Tainos A peaceful people, they enjoyed the undisturbed tranquility of the West Indies for approximately 2000 years. They feasted on over forty varieties of fish. Anthropologists have found the bones and shells of the grouper, parrot fish, sturgeon, shark, lobster, oyster, conch, whelk and crab in their 'middens' or garbage heaps. |
The Kalinagos did not eat much different from the Tainos. They food intake included some of that of the Tainos namely:
- Meat/Fish: Lobsters, crabs, turtle(only the Arawak ate this.), agouti
- Fruits/Vegetables: Cassava, sweet potato, corn. peppers, pineapples, plums, guava, Mammae apple and star apples.
